About a month and a half ago, I cut my hair into a bob with bangs – which for now will be my transitional summer lewk. However, prior to the new ‘do I had been religiously using this curling wand that I bought one day on a whim.
To be very honest, I was persuaded by this wavy look Khloe Kardashian was giving and had to figure out how to do it for myself. So after searching the net to find the perfect tool to accomplish this look I came across a ton of YouTube tutorials on using curling wands. The beauty of the curling wand is that with each person and their hair type / texture it gave a different look. Naturally, I ran to my nearby beauty supply store and purchased a Red by Kiss curling wand, which I love. Mine is 1 inch in thickness, which is perfect for my medium length hair.
However, when I got my bangs I was sad that I potentially wouldn’t be able to use it anymore. I was looking forward to having beachy waves for the summer. That is until I saw Kerry Washington in this month’s ELLE Magazine and Blac Chyna (lol!) rocking the bang and curling wand waves. SO, I had to try it myself.
I really think the waves give my bob a much more fun and spring inspired look. To achieve the waves I usually section my hair off into two parts and curl holding my wand downward at a vertical angle. Since the wand is extremely hot and only has one setting I always make sure to wear the protective glove it came with and also spritz on the heat protector Melu Hair Shield from Davines ($34). The Hair Shield also helps hold the curls for a bit longer.
To maintain for more than one day I’ll usually sleep in a satin bonnet. To me the waves look better after about a day or two, giving it a more natural sexy just rolled out of bed look!
