Last night I had the pleasure of attending the NYC store-opening event for Credo Beauty. Credo is a San Francisco based beauty retailer that only sells products made by brands who use sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients. It’s literally a one-stop shop for anyone who’s looking to purchase beauty products that are not just effective and beautiful, but clean as well.
Credo’s new NYC space will carry over 100 brands in categories ranging from skin care, makeup, hair care, men’s, body care, fragrance to home fragrances. Since being founded a year ago, Credo has steadily become a key player in the natural beauty space and aims to change the way people think about the beauty products they use. Credo brings together a collection of brands that make people not only look good, but are good for them as well. The company was founded by beauty biz veteran Shashi Batra, one of the original members of the executive team that started Sephora in the U.S.
While there, I was able to meet with team members from some amazing brands like Armour Beauty, NU Evolution, Innersense and Mario Badescu Skincare, and test out some fabulous products. I was in awe of the entire set up and the amount of clean brands I hadn’t previously heard of. In the past I’ve never really paid too much attention to the harmful chemicals that are used to make some of our beloved beauty products — Credo has definitely opened my eyes to this very important conversation.
This is Credo’s second brick and mortar retail location; their inaugural space is located in San Francisco. Personally, I’m glad to see that they’ve made it to the east coast and the location they’ve chosen in the city is perfect –9 Prince Street. If you aren’t familiar, this is the super chic neighborhood NoLita, which is just east of SoHo. What’s also great about Credo is that 1% of every purchase made is donated to Lipstick Angels — and organization that provides care and treatment through compassionate bedside delivery of our natural makeup and skin care brands to seriously ill hospital patients.
Here are some snaps of the new space!
