I love putting on a full face of makeup. I don’t care what anyone says or thinks, because it isn’t for them—to me its fun and part of my morning routine. I love foundation, a little concealer, blush, mascara and a bold lip or gloss. However, in the summer this is less realistic to actually last and stay as fresh as I’d like for an entire day. Therefore, I’ve been playing around with using fewer products and still am able to achieve a glam look. The two items I’ve worked into my routine are a tinted moisturizer or primer and highlighter, which I’ve come to realize are pretty much all I’ll need for the next few months.
After applying moisturizer to my face in the morning, I then smooth on a layer of the super lightweight Black Opal True Color Perfecting Primer in Medium ($14.95). You can use this alone or underneath a foundation—since I’m limiting the amount of products I use, I go without a foundation on top. Something that my best friend Chantz put me on to, she always looks flawless when rocking a fresh face. The slight tint to it helps brighten and even my skin-tone, while the priming ingredients help hydrate. It also has a slight shimmer to it, which I love.
Following the tinted primer, I then powder on my Black | Up Sublime Powder Highlighter in PS04 ($37.50). This has to be my favorite product of the summer, I get compliments on it every time I wear it – the Black | Up Sublime Powder makes my skin look absolutely radiant with its luminous pigment. I generally apply using a blush brush; I start under my eyes at the top of my cheekbone then blend towards my ear. From there I powder on in a C shape around my eyes and over my eyebrows along my forehead and down the center of my nose. I also apply a little to my chin. These are all of the areas the light hits first and will give you a nice warm glow while out in the sun. From there, I usually add a little blush and I’m ready to go!
