I’m more of a curling iron and curling wand kind of girl when it comes to my styling tools, but I finally feel like I’ve found a flat iron that straightens my hair and maintains that volume I like. I actually hadn’t heard of Cricket’s line of beauty and styling products prior to receiving their Hardware Pro Styling Iron ($65.70) and this definitely made me want to learn more. The Cricket styling iron goes up to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and has floating cushion plates that prevent static and damage to your hair. It gently glides with the strands of my hair leaving it smooth, full of body and shine.
I also love the design with its sleek faux chrome finish and extra long swivel cord. This came in handy while I was in France, since our Airbnb’s had a limited number of outlets that were by mirrors.
I obviously don’t recommend flat ironing your hair every day / night, so what I like most about the Cricket styling iron is that the results actually last (if you remember to wrap you hair at night of course, haha).
I’ve mentioned this before but I swear by the Davines Melu Hair Shield ($36) heat protector spray, which — even if not by that particular brand, should be used any time a heat activated styling tool is involved. Heat protector prevents that burnt hair smell (and actually burning your hair) when flat ironing. It’s also important to clean the plates of your flat iron regularly. Simply setting it to a low heat level and then unplugging it before you run a damp cloth over them should do the trick. If there’s a bit more build up of product on the plates you can add some rubbing alcohol to the mix.
I plan on doing a post in the coming weeks about holiday gift recommendations, and this is definitely one I’d consider for the beauty enthusiast in your life. Or as something to treat yo self with!
