It’s finally hot in NYC and so are my finger nails! I wasted no time getting a bright hue for the warmer months and got my manicure done in a fun hot pink by WAVEGEL in “Purple Pepper.” I tried a new nail salon, 28 Nail, by my office and decided to go for something new to fête the change of season.
As you know, I’m typically a Gelish girl when it comes to my gel manicures. I’ve dabbled in OPI, Essie and Shellac gel as well, but Gelish is my favorite. However, after having tried this relatively under the radar brand WAVEGEL I have to say that I’m thoroughly impressed. I took the photos in this story last night, exactly a week after having gotten them done and the color is just as vibrant as it was on day one. I’m also pleased to mention that none of my polish has chipped, except for on my right thumb. For some reason my right thumb and pointy finger always go first. I guess I put them to the most use when texting.
The brand WAVEGEL is unique in that they don’t only offer fun and vibrant colors, but in some of their collections the colors either change with your specific temperature or glow in the dark. I didn’t know this beforehand and my nail technician never mentioned it, so I was a little shocked when I was going to bed the other night and my fingers were glowing. I didn’t mind, but it would have been nice to have gotten a heads up!
I also decided to try a different shape and cut my nails down to be a bit more square, which toned down the loud pink — a little. I’m going to see how they hold up by the end of the week and may experiment with another color from the WAVEGEL family. I also want to note that the lip color I’m wearing is by LORAC, it’s their Liquid Lipstick in “Plum Brown” ($19)

Hmmm, will have to try wavegel out!
They don’t glow just in dark, I think they glow in these pics as well 🙂 I didn’t have a chance to sort this kind, yet. I’ll give it a try the next time.
Haha! Yes they do glow in these photos as well, thank you. Let me know how you like them if you give them a try!
