The other day I was texting one of my close guy friends, Wes, who’s moving to NYC in a few weeks. Our conversations are usually quite comical and ranging in topic, but one reoccurring item we discuss is just how much the two of us sweat. Aside from the fact that he is a man, Wes and I have very different body types — he’s built like a football player and as you can see I’m pretty lanky. Which goes to show that perspiration, like the sun’s UV rays ain’t discriminating! Summer in NYC is brutal and every year I try to find the best new antiperspirant to help battle that. My main issue is of course underarm sweat, but can Antiperspirant be used for other parts of the body as well? I’m kind of tired of shirts sticking to my back, or my feet sliding out of sandals while I’m rushing to work in the morning. So I hit the google to find a solution!
First off, let me start by mentioning the difference between antiperspirant and deodorant. Deodorant is simply to help rid the body of odor, while antiperspirant conquers both odor and sweat.
After doing some research, I finally developed a method that works and has drastically helped me with my sweaty woes! I’ve decided to wear two types of Antiperspirant a day. Yup, two! Similar to my skincare routine, I now have a nighttime antiperspirant that I put on before bed and one that I wear during the day while out and about. At night, I opt for a strong formula and glide on Certain Dri Prescription Strength Clinical ($7). Certain Dri has a soft spot in my heart because it really helped me out as a sweaty kid, so I knew this would definitely do the trick. One thing I do have to note, however, is that when I went looking for it at Rite Aid they didn’t have it in the women’s section, I had to find it in the men’s antiperspirant area, shame! *Avoid applying Certain Dri after shaving, it stings!
After showering I put on the Certain Dri before bed. It’s odorless, so that may be a little stressful at first because it doesn’t have that gratifying pretty fragrance, but don’t let that fool you. It puts in work overnight and keeps you dry through the next morning. To give myself a boost of freshness during the day I spray on the Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant ($6) in the morning to give that sweet smell I’m used to and really pack in the sweat reducing powers. This method has truly worked wonders and for the past week since I’ve started doing it, I’ve noticed that I have very very minimal underarm sweat — hallelujah!
Now, that isn’t the only problem I have. I decided to google where else I could spray on Antiperspirant and was so pleased to see that I could put that bad boy to use! So in the morning before I head out for the day, I’ve been spraying on a thin layer of my Dove Dry Spray to the following areas:
- Under my breasts – no more boob sweat, yay!
- The bottom of my feet – No more slipping and sliding in my sandals while trying to look cute on the way to
werkwork - My inner thighs – Even though I’m skinny, my thighs rub together! So this helps them stay dry all day long
- Small of my back – Pools of sweat always gather here while I’m waiting for the train
- Inside my belly button – Yup, this tiny crevice radiates so much heat from your body and is said to be one of the best spots to apply perfume as well
Another area that you can put antiperspirant that I didn’t is on your forehead / hairline. Although this is probably where I sweat the most, I’m really picky about what I put on my face so didn’t want to risk that. Also, you can put it on your hands — fortunately my hands rarely ever sweat so I didn’t really need to.
I’m pleased to say that this has truly worked for me…no lie. Try it for yourself and let me know how it helps!
