I brought my boyfriend home for the first time this holiday season, and to say it was a big deal for me is an understatement. There’s nothing better than having someone who is so special to you, meet the people who helped you become, well, you! With that said, we were out and about — he had to meet everyone and I just had to live up this moment of having a majority of my loved ones in one place. Not to mention, we Jamaicans like to eat and have a good time — so that we did, and is what I have been doing since I got back.
Given that the momentum is just beginning for me in January, I don’t see the stress on my skin lessening anytime soon. Which is why I’m so glad to have found the Kaike Green Tea Mask + Scrub ($20), which has been my secret weapon since the seasons began to shift. Infused with Matcha, French Green Clay and Bentonite Clay — this mask stops break outs in their tracks and has kept my skin from going crazy while out and about this holiday season and beyond.
Everyone is obsessed with drinking Matcha, and though I haven’t tasted it before, doesn’t mean I can’t incorporate it into my skincare routine. Matcha is simply a more concentrated version of Green Tea that is made from the entire leaf. It has superb anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve any redness from sudden breakouts almost immediately. Though I’m a huge advocate for Vitamin C, I can attest to the fact that Green Tea is a lot less harsh on the skin and actually works for all skin types. It’s potent yet gentle antioxidant properties are ideal for clearing the skin without irritating those who are more sensitive.
Aside from the fact that it smells just like Green Tea, this mask and scrub by Kaike is the real deal. It comes in a highly concentrated powder form that you can use two ways. I prefer to utilize it as a clay mask, which is done by adding a small amount of water to form a paste.
From there I gently paint it onto my skin with the Eco Tools Classic Foundation Brush ($6) and let it sit for no less than 10-minutes. After washing off, I can literally feel it extract the oils from my face and reveal a more brightened and vibrant complexion.
It can also be used by incorporating it with you favorite facial cleanser to gently exfoliate, but I’d prefer to use it straight up to maximize the benefits.
For those of you who visit AishaBeau.com often, you know I love a mask. They’re honestly the best way to truly treat your entire face. I don’t know about you, but it’s a bit much in my opinion to get a pricey facial every other week, so why not do the next best thing?
