I recently came across several lip colors, ranging from matte to velvet from some well-known brands such as L’Oreal and Urban Decay, to some newer brands like Il Makiage and Clove + Hallow, that you have to check out. Here’s a round-up of my must-have lip colors for Fall 2018!
The Perfect Peach
This is my first time trying a product by Huda Beauty, and I have to say it doesn’t disappoint. First off, this lipstick smells amazing, which is not something I would ever have expected. Aside from that, it went on like a dream. I loved the full coverage and because I don’t normally gravitate towards peach anything, I was pleasantly surprised. For women with darker skin tones like mine, finding a peach lipstick that works well with our undertones is a bit of a nightmare. So, I’m pleased to say, thanks to Huda Beauty the search is over.
Huda Beauty Liquid Matte in Icon ($20)
The Ultra Matte
I recently received a package from Lena Lashes of some products in their current line, which I thought would only include, well, lashes of course. So I was pleased and excited to see that the brand also makes a number of other products, including liquid lipstick. Of those I tried, I was particularly drawn to their More Matte Than Matte Liquid Lipstick in Luca ($18). Taupe isn’t a color I’d typically wear, because similar to peach it can be a hit or miss on my skin complexion, but this one is an unexpected delight. It’s edgy, but still flirty, which I absolutely love.
A Little Shimmer
Here’s another color I’m loving from Huda Beauty’s Liquid Matte Collection, “Showgirl” ($20). This shimmery hue is just as spicy as the name and perfect for a date night.
Red Hot
Red is and always will be my go-to lip color, hands down. So I’m very open to adding some new versions of it to my arsenal, and I have to say that Urban Decay really outdid itself with this “No-Tell Motel” ($18) cream lipstick. Personally, I’m partial to liquid lipstick because a little goes a long way in terms of coverage, and I find that some cream lipsticks are too sheer, but not this one. This bold red is highly pigmented and keeps my lips super moisturized.
If you’re looking for a matte option this fall, L’Oreal offers a stunning red in it’s Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick collection, “Matador” ($10). Not only is it super affordable, but this color really does stay in place all day!
A Bold Blue
I tried blue lipstick for the first time earlier this year when Fenty Beauty launched the shade “Clapback” in their Mattemoiselle range. Since then, I’ve opened up a bit more to the idea of adding colors outside of the red / pink / purple family into my rotation.
So, when I saw that clean beauty brand Clove + Hallow had this sassy deep blue in their Lip Velvet collection, I knew I had to give it a try. Honestly, “Jetsetter” ($18) was even more dynamic than expected. The blue pigment is extremely rich and provides full coverage with only a few swipes. I can definitely see myself rocking this on a night out!
Bordeaux
Aside from the traditional red, around this time is when I start pulling out richer hues that compliment the fall weather. So having a deep bordeaux color is an absolute must. I’ve been meaning to try Il Makiage for some time now, and their Infinity Long-Wear Matte Lip Cream in “Matte Trouble” ($22) was the perfect introduction. I can absolutely see myself wearing it on a daily basis. The wine color is so deep it almost looks brown, and goes so perfectly with my skin tone. I literally felt sexier when I put it on.
Clove + Hallow’s Lip Crème in “Psych” ($18) also serves as the ideal wine hued lipstick for the fall. Formulated with a combination of natural and organic oils such as jojoba, castor and sunflower — this lipstick provides the ultimate hydration while still making me look fierce!
Which one’s your fav?
