Pampering yourself head-to-toe is an absolute must. So, I’ve rounded up a few products I love that will certainly get the job done!
Luxe Care
If you’re interested in a luxurious, multi-step system that not only soothes your skin but all of your senses – look no further than black-owned brand Beneath Your Mask. Utilizing all-natural ingredients, Beneath Your Mask is a line of face, body and hair rejuvenation products that help restore and repair. Stand out products include: Heal – their whipped skin soufflé ($80), Polish – a detoxifying body scrub ($70) and Nourish – skin and hair serum ($60).
While applying Beneath Your Mask products, it is important to also take a moment to inhale the aromas, which are scented by steam-distilled essential oils. Not only is their packaging extremely chic – the glass bottles used enhance the product effectiveness. Beneath Your Mask is packaged in a dark violet Miron glass that activates their Botanical formulas.
Everyday Moisture
For an all-in-one approach, the B.O. Essentials Rejuvenating Whipped Rose & Geranium Body Butter ($17) is the perfect daily moisturizer. This all-natural, lightweight, yet nourishing body butter is ideal for repairing dry and damaged skin. A little goes a long way with this product and given the use of particular oils it adds a nice dewy glow to your skin after application.
Hand Care
Believe it or not, a good hand cream is pretty hard to come by. Most are filled with unnecessary perfumes and go on soft but within minutes wear off, leaving you to re-apply constantly throughout the day. Recently, I was sent the Nubian Heritage Abyssinian Oil & Chia Seed Hand Cream ($10) and haven’t looked back since. Blended with Amaranth Extract and Ginseng, this long-lasting cream leaves my hands feeling moisturized in a way that isn’t just surface level.
Cuticles need love too, and for those of us who are prone to picking it’s important we keep them moisturized to avoid doing so. A product I’ve written about in the past and absolutely swear by is Deborah Lippmann’s cuticle cream, aptly titled The Cure ($24). This cream can help even the driest cuticles, offering long-term protection when used on a regular basis. It’s a must-have for your purse or desk.
In the Shower
When it comes to shower the gels, the key is finding one that not only cleanses the skin without making it feel stripped afterwards. The Glossier Body Hero Daily Oil Wash ($18) does just that. Similar to facial oil cleansers, the Daily Oil Wash attracts dirt and sweat by lifting it from the skin and rinses it away once hit by water.
A great way to rejuvenate the skin is to incorporate a body scrub into your shower routine every once in a while, as well. Nubian Heritage’s African Black Soap Hand & Body Scrub ($13) helps to buff away old cells and reveal smoother more radiant skin. Pair this with the Luv Scrub Mesh Body Exfoliator ($18) for the ultimate exfoliation experience.
Fabulous Feet
Whew Chile, time to talk about foot care, something even I struggle with staying consistent about. Achieving and maintaining baby soft feet takes a continued effort given our feet are exposed to the most friction on our body. Pair your foot cream with the Dr. Brenner’s RX Moisturizing Booties ($38) while lounging around at home next time. These socks contain a gel lining that is infused with avocado oil, jojoba oil and olive oil to nourish and soften dry heels, corns and callouses.
What I would also recommend is a tried and true remedy that can even work better than some of the most high-end foot creams, good old fashion Vaseline 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly ($4). Yup, just apply a substantial amount onto your feet, wrap them in Saran wrap, pop some socks on and let them soak while binge watching your favorite shows. Your feet will come out much smoother for a fraction of the price. Trust me.
Along with using the right products, proper application is an important step. To maintain maximum moisture, applying lotions, butters and creams when your skin is still slightly damp from the shower is best. During this time your pours are open and more likely to absorb the product for long term smoothness!
