In the spirit of NYC finally hitting 70-degree weather today, it’s only right that I write a post on my new favorite deodorant from Dove. It’s almost that time of year where I switch from a more delicate solution to something that can withstand my summer sweats!
For some time during the 70’s and 80’s spray on deodorant was a big trend in the U.S., until the government found out that some of the products in them (chlorofluorocarbons) were bad for the environment. After that they were practically discontinued – until recently.
According to this New York Times article a number of Unilever brands such as Dove and Degree have introduced reformulated antiperspirant sprays that comply with federal regulations – which has brought the trend back to the U.S.

I am absolutely obsessed with this Dove Dry Spray and the scent I have is ‘Cool Essentials’. I love a distinct fragrance – so the first thing I loved was how fresh this smelt after applying. It dried immediately and left no white residue that would rub off on my shirt. I think it’s my big head, but I literally always get deodorant streaks when I pull on a top.
I’ve been wearing it all week and can attest to its long lasting freshness. Throughout the day I get a whiff of the scent, and my underarms feel super smooth but not damp like when I wear solid deodorant. Also, because it’s an antiperspirant it helps control the amount I sweat.
The only disclaimer I have is that my friend Brittany (who put me on) said it left minor dark marks on her underarms after repeated use, so she doesn’t apply as frequently. So if you have sensitive underarms this may be something you use when you are going out for a long period of time or in more extreme temperatures.
I picked mine up at Rite Aid, so I’m sure you can find one in your nearest drug store as well!
