It’s freezing out right now, but you know what? I’m going to hold on to hopes of warmer days ahead. Therefore, it’s time for me to start thinking of and purchasing beauty products that will be beneficial in the summer. A few months ago I walked in to Sephora specifically to purchase the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30)– everyone has it, everyone loves it and I wanted to try it for myself.
I surprisingly wasn’t big on concealer prior to this, I had one from MAC a while back, but generally I kept it to a foundation or tinted moisturizer. I’m usually a snooty Sephora shopper and don’t ask for help when finding products, but for some reason this particular day before heading to the NARS counter I asked an employee what they thought the best concealer was. As expected, he mentioned NARS, but then he said that in his opinion he feels the Sephora brand Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer ($14) is comparable (if not better) than NARS. I gave him a side eye and he quickly assured me that he wasn’t just saying that because he worked there and to trust him.
So, I went over and tried both — one under each eye. When it came to applicators I liked the NARS concealer better, because with the Sephora concealer I had to aggressively dip it into the tube a few times to get enough product on the wand. However, in terms of coverage I definitely liked the Sephora brand way better. It blended in with my skin tone more, was lighter weight and literally didn’t look like I was wearing anything. It got rid of the dark circles under my eyes without making me look pale, it was perfect — even in the light. Not to mention it is half the price ($14 vs $30). I was sold and have been hooked ever since!

The shade that went well with my skin tone in the Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer was Toffee. What I love about it is that unlike other concealers, because it’s so light weight, it doesn’t settle into fine lines on my face and truly brightens. What’s more is that this concealer has the widest shade range at Sephora — so yes Black girls, there’s something there for all of us. I urge you to try it. I plan on rocking it alone this summer since I tend to sweat quite a bit and don’t like applying foundation everyday. For these photos I’m literally only wearing this concealer, and it gives a very fresh ‘no makeup, makeup’ look that highlights my natural features.
