I read a lot of really great fiction books last year by Black women that really helped me to escape after a long day. So, I’m keeping the trend going for 2023, and here’s my lineup for the first three months:
Half-Blown Rose by Leesa Cross-Smith
I read Leesa’s book “This Close to Okay” last year and LOVED it, so I had to pick up another. It was a really beautiful and unique romance novel
Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen
I’ve seen rumblings of this one everywhere, so I had to check it out myself. Apparently, the story/situations are very relatable. AND it’s part of a series!
In Every Mirror She’s Black by Lolá Ákínmádé Åkerström
I’ve been very into stories told with various perspectives and this one is about three very different women whose lives are uniquely intertwined.
My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
Okay, the title caught my eye, and then of course the description had me hooked. I love a good dark comedy, so this is the one I’m starting with!
All of these books are in my Amazon storefront, so to purchase, click here!
Have you read any of these? What are your thoughts? Also, what’s on your reading list? Maybe I can add something new to my Q2 lineup!
