The Plot Twist: A Cozy Fall Cocktail for Life’s Unexpected Turns
Have you ever had one of those moments where you feel like nothing is going as you expected it? And that life is taking you on so many twists and turns you can barely keep up? Yeah…same.
This year has been full of lessons in surrender for me—moments where things didn’t go as planned, but somehow still unfolded the way they were meant to. So when I started playing around with this recipe, I decided to call it The Plot Twist—a cozy, cinnamon-spiced fall cocktail that feels like a warm hug after a long day.
Because the truth is, sometimes our greatest blessings come disguised as detours.
This drink is simple, soothing, and a reminder to let yourself enjoy where you are, even if it doesn’t look exactly how you thought it would.
The Recipe: The Plot Twist
Ingredients:
• 2 oz dark rum (I used @therealmccoyrum)
• 3 oz apple cider
• ½ oz simple syrup (or honey syrup if you like it richer)
• ¼ tsp ground cinnamon (or just a dash — to taste)
• Ice
• Cinnamon stick for garnish
Instructions:
Add the rum, apple cider, simple syrup, and cinnamon to a shaker.
Shake well with ice until chilled and slightly frothy.
Strain into a chilled glass.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Mocktail Version
If you’re skipping alcohol or just want something cozy without the buzz, replace the rum with spiced tea or extra apple cider. It’s just as warming and delicious—proof that you don’t need the spirits to feel the spirit.
The Vibe
This is the kind of cocktail you make when you’re curled up under a blanket, a candle burning nearby, reflecting on how far you’ve come—even when the path wasn’t linear.
It’s smooth, subtly sweet, and grounded—just like the energy I’m calling in this season.
