I’ll admit, I tried to skip going out for New Year’s this year, but I’m such a sucker for getting dressed up that when I was doing the shoot for this post I got a serious case of FOMO. Afterwards I texted my girlfriend like, what we doin’?! I just love an opportunity to go all out with my look and New Year’s Eve is always the most fun. Whether you decide to keep it to an intimate house party, dinner with friends or hit the club it’s nice to see and be seen while everyone is in such a festive mood. Also, a lot of people look at New Year’s Eve as a time to switch up their look or turn over a new leaf, so there’s even more incentive to pick it up a notch in the beauty department.
We still have a few weeks left until the big night, but if you’re super picky like me — you’re probably still in planning mode. Therefore, I put together 3 different beauty looks to help give you some inspiration. For each of these looks I used the LORAC PRO Metal Palette in Rose Gold ($28), which includes 8 of their Limited Edition Metallic PRO Eye Shadow Shades. I love it because its super versatile and has shades perfect for any look you’re trying to achieve.
Neutral and Festive
For this look I wanted to go all out with strobing (definition: here) and give a really playful and festive look for the New Year. I highlighted with the Laura Geller swirl highlighter and brightened my eyes with the Graphite and Rose Gold shadows in the LORAC PRO Metal Palette. I also used my 1-inch Instant Heat Curling Iron from Conair to get these flipped out curls. This look is great for a house party with friends or dinner — preferably somewhere with lots of light to show off the shimmer.

Seductive with Smokey Eye
I did a similar look to this one a few years ago when I was celebrating NYE in Philly — I actually wore the same dress that’s in this photo. This look is great if you’re celebrating with BAE or hitting the town. I love to rock a dark lip and smokey eye with of course black, but it’s a really nice juxtaposition when you’re wearing white or a lighter color / silver metallic dress such as this one. For my hair I used a curling wand to give it some subtle waves.
Products Used:
- MAC Haute & Naughty Too Black Mascara
- Sephora Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner
- NARS Audacious Lipstick in Liv
- LORAC PRO Metal Palette in Rose Gold
- MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC 50
- Red by Kiss Curling Wand
Bold and Gold
You all know I love a red lip and some gold. For this look I decided to bring the emphasis to my eyes wth some heavy gold shadow. To achieve the effortless warm glow, I highlighted with Black | Up’s Sublime Powder Luminizer on my cheekbone, forehead, tip of my nose and chin. With my hair I wanted to do something fairly simple to really bring emphasis to my bold lip so I did a middle part slicked down with a bun in the back.
Products Used:
- Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso
- Black | Up Sublime Powder Luminizer in PS 03
- Kiko Milano Double Colour Eyeliner
- MAC Haute & Naughty Too Black Mascara
- LORAC PRO Metal Palette in Rose Gold
- MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC 50
I also wanted to call out that for each of these looks I used my new Elcie Pearl Radiance Primer, which has been my go-to for the past month now. It’s an oil-free, water-based primer that makes my skin feel so smooth and it also has a “touch of pearl” to give my skin a healthy and radiant glow before I put on my foundation.
